Vitra / Miller ES 108 Lobby Chair
the design of the Lobby Chair also known as the “Time Life Executive Chair” began as a service of friendship. in 1959, Charles Eames asked Henry Luce, president of Time-Life publishing, for images from the magazine archives for “Glimpses of the USA,” a multi-screen presentation at the World's Fair in Moscow. when Henry Luce had a new headquarters built a year later on the south side of Rockefeller Centre in New York, known as the Time Life Building, he asked Eames to design chairs for the building's lobby and executive offices.
