The 001 was designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, presented in 1929 at the Salon d’Automne, and has since appeared in Cassina’s collection as a light, compact classic with timeless design.

Design
1928
Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and Pierre Jeanneret designed the 001 as a light, compact chair with a springy back panel. The design is the result of an in-depth study of posture and comfort.
Première
1929
The 001 is presented at the Salon d’Automne in Paris, together with the 002, 004, and Table Tube d’Avion, as part of the famous stand “Équipement intérieur d’une habitation”.
Limited production
1930
Limited production for specific projects (such as Villa Church and UAM exhibitions). The design mainly remained within the sphere of architects and avant-garde circles. It was not until 1964 that it became globally accessible through Cassina.
Cassina
1964
On October 23, 1964, Cassina acquired the exclusive production and sales rights for the works of Le Corbusier, Jeanneret, and Perriand, including the 001.
Start of official production
1965
Cassina takes over the production of the 001 and introduces it within the “I Maestri” collection.
Renaming
1970
Cassina returns to the original French naming. The LC1 is renamed “1 Fauteuil dossier basculant,” without the “LC” prefix.
Timeless design icon
Today
To this day, the 001 remains one of Cassina’s most beloved models. Recognized worldwide as an icon of understated design and thoughtful comfort.
