A modern take on the Chesterfield

Patricia Urquiola designed the Tufty-Time in 2005 for B&B Italia, inspired by the capitonné stitching of the classic Chesterfield sofa, but translated into the organic, informal design language of the 1960s and '70s.

The modular system — built up from a pouf as the base, complemented by middle, corner, and end elements — was an immediate success and has grown into one of B&B Italia's most iconic designs. The covers are removable, which by design already makes the sofa suitable for maintenance and reupholstering.
