Cesare ‘Joe’ Colombo
Joe Colombo is regarded as one of the most influential Italian designers of the twentieth century. His career was defined by groundbreaking ideas, futuristic concepts, and an extraordinary level of productivity.
In 1967, at the age of just 37, Colombo suffered a serious heart attack, an event that profoundly changed his perspective on time and creativity. Realising that his future might be uncertain, he devoted himself even more intensely to designing and bringing new ideas into production.
His intuition proved to be well founded. Only four years later, on 30 July 1971, Joe Colombo passed away at the age of 41. Despite his remarkably short life, he left behind an extraordinary body of work, including the iconic Elda Chair, named after his wife Elda.
