Design
The Strange Thing, designed by Philippe Starck in 2002, was unfortunately only produced for a short period of time. The original fabric specified for this model proved to be prone to wear over the years, with the surface layer separating from the backing fabric.
As the Strange Thing was produced exclusively in this material, we believe this may have contributed to Cassina discontinuing the model.
The example shown here has been reupholstered in Steelcut by Kvadrat, a fabric that offers the elasticity required to upholster this unique design correctly. Of course, many other suitable fabrics are available, and we would be happy to advise you on the options.
